SUMMARY:John Lydon’s Iconoclastic Band Public Image Ltd (PiL) Announce Major Tour for 2025
DESCRIPTION:John Lydon’s iconoclastic band Public Image Ltd (PiL) has announced a major tour of the UK and Ireland for summer 2025. \nThe 23-date tour billed as ‘This Is Not The Last Tour’ will start in Bristol on 22nd May and end in Belfast on 16th August\, and includes dates along the way in Dublin (12th June) and Cardiff (14th June). \nThe tour also include festival appearances at Stone Valley South in Ware (23rd May)\, Stone Valley Midlands in Newark (27th June)\, Rebellion Festival in Blackpool (7th August)\, Stone Valley North in Durham (8th August) and Putting the Fast in Belfast (16th August). \nTickets go on sale at 10.00am on Friday 15th November\, available from all venues and via www.pilofficial.com. \nPiL’s tour dates for 2025 comes after Lydon thought the band might not tour again. His lifelong friend and manager\, John Rambo Stevens passed away suddenly following the last PiL tour\, in December 2023\, soon after the death of Lydon’s wife\, Nora\, in April 2023. \nLydon thought that might be the end of his touring days. However\, he was overwhelmed by the love and support of fans when he undertook a spoken word tour of the UK in spring this year. \nLydon said: “I thought that might be it. After losing Nora\, and Rambo\, I couldn’t see a way through. I’d already committed to the spoken word tour\, this spring\, and I never let anyone down – I always stick to my word – so I had to do those dates. \n“The thing is\, people were so overwhelmingly positive\, and they asked me to tour PiL again. With so many people asking and with the band meaning so much to them\, I couldn’t just stay on my sofa and not tour – tempting though that obviously is.” \nAfter fronting the Sex Pistols\, John Lydon formed post-punk originators Public Image Ltd (PiL). Widely regarded as one of the most innovative bands of all time\, their music and vision earned them 5 UK Top 20 Singles and 5 UK Top 20 Albums. \nWith a shifting line-up and unique sound – fusing rock\, dance\, folk\, pop and dub – Lydon guided the band from their debut album ‘First Issue’ in 1978 through to 1992’s ‘That What Is Not’\, before a 17 year hiatus. \nLydon reactivated PiL in 2009\, touring extensively and releasing three critically acclaimed albums\, ‘This is PiL’ (2012)\, ‘What The World Needs Now…’ (2015) and ‘End of World’ (2023). \nThe full list of PiL’s 2025 tour dates is as follows: \n22nd May      Bristol                   02 Academy \n23rd May      Ware                     Stone Valley Festival South \n24th May      Bournemouth         02 Academy \n29th May      Barnsley                Birdwell \n30th May      Newcastle              Boiler Shop \n31st May      Norwich                Epic Studios \n12th June      Dublin                   3Olympia \n13th June      Limerick                Dolan’s Warehouse \n14th June      Cardiff                  Depot \n20th June      Vitoria-Gasteiz       Azkena Rock Festival \n26th June      Hastings                White Rock \n27th June      Newark                 Stone Valley Festival Midlands \n28th June      Oxford                  O2 Academy \n3rd July        Leicester                O2 Academy \n4th July         Lincoln                  Engine Shed \n5th July         Portsmouth            Guildhall \n30th July       Sheffield                Leadmill \n31st July       Northampton          Roadmenders \n1st August     Holmfirth              Picturedrome \n7th August    Blackpool              Rebellion Festival \n8th August    Durham                 Stone Valley Festival North \n9th August    Coventry               Empire \n15th August   Cork                     City Hall \n16th August   Belfast                   Putting the Fast in Belfast\, Custom House Square

SUMMARY:Rich(ard) Dawson announced news of his return with new album End of the Middle due February 14th
DESCRIPTION:Last month Rich(ard) Dawson announced news of his return with new album End of the Middle due February 14th.\n \nToday\, Dawson is pleased to share the second song from the forthcoming record\, “Boxing Day Sales” – a beautifully wonky pop number that merges Dawson’s deft yet infectious melodies with a pleasing bolt of jagged clarinet from Faye MacCalman (who plays the role of “lightning” throughout the album). It’s also his hugely unorthodox bid for Christmas Number 1.“I wanted to make a pure pop song\,” says Rich. “Almost like a total throwaway song – like a Christmas gift: A pair of novelty socks\, some Lynx Africa\, or a daft plastic puzzle you get on Christmas morning and then chuck in a drawer for the next 10 years. I wanted it to be the most throwaway and lightweight triviality of a thing.” But Dawson also found himself moved by the noble spirit of the character in his song\, lifting it to a place that went beyond disposable gifts\, pop hooks\, and a critique of capitalism. “Even when there isn’t much room for a character to speak you still must go all the way with them”.Watch the video for “Boxing Day Sales” here.\nStream “Boxing Day Sales” here. The video – directed (once again) by James Hankins – features Rich posing in a series of shop windows and famous Central London spots as well as vignettes of eager shoppers going about their day. As Dawson’s final repeated lyrics “You owe it to yourself” ring out\, we are left with a parting image of rubbish being collected.\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\nEnd of the Middle is richly intricate\, evocative\, tactile and almost has the transportive ability to put you in the places and scenarios it describes. Partly inspired by his love of the films of Japanese director Yasujirō Ozu\, the album focuses around a family unit. “It zooms in quite close-up to try and explore a typical middle class English family home\,” Dawson says. “We’re listening to the stories of people from three or four generations of perhaps the same family. But really\, it’s about how we break certain cycles. I think the family is a useful metaphor to examine how things are passed on generationally.” \nAlongside the announcement today\, comes a new UK tour in April including London’s Clapham Grand plus a string of instore shows for February. \nWatch the video for the previously released “Polytunnel” here. \nEnd of the Middle is available to pre-order on Dom-Mart reverse-playing vinyl\, indies-exclusive vinyl (with signed print)\, Dinked-exclusive yellow vinyl (with 7” of 2 bonus tracks)\, standard vinyl\, CD and digitally. Pre-order: DomMart | Digital \nUpcoming live dates:\nFriday 14th February – Rough Trade East\, London\nSaturday 15th February – Resident\, Brighton\nMonday 17th February – Rough Trade Bristol\nTuesday 18th February – Bear Tree\, Sheffield\nWednesday 19th February – Beatdown outstore @ Lubber Fiend\, Newcastle \nWednesday 23rd April – Stoller Hall\, Manchester\nFriday 25th April – Brewery Arts\, Kendal\nSunday 27th April – City Varieties\, Leeds\n Tuesday 29th April – Clapham Grand\, London\nThursday 1st May – The Gate\, Cardiff\nFriday 2nd May – Metronome\, Nottingham\nSaturday 17th May – The Glasshouse\, Sage 2\, Gateshead\nTuesday 20th May – Pleasance Theatre\, Edinburgh\nWednesday 21st May – St Luke’s\, Glasgow\nThursday 22nd May – Liverpool Philharmonic Hall\, Liverpool\nFriday 23rd May – St George’s\, Brighton\nSaturday 24th May – Quarterhouse\, Folkestone\nTickets

SUMMARY:Jon Allen will celebrate the release of ‘Seven Dials’ by hitting the road with his band The Luna Kings
DESCRIPTION:  \nJon Allen’s recent tracks ‘White Gold’\, ‘The Shadow’ and ‘Nine Lives’ have captured evocative snapshots of the day-to-day struggles of 18th century Londoners – and those stories weave into an imaginative tapestry of what the streets of our capital must have felt like. The next chapter of this narrative is the release of his new single ‘Down With The Tide’ out now. \nThe new album ‘Seven Dials’ is released May 2nd. \nJon says\, “There is a feeling of defiance at the heart of ‘Down With The Tide’ – a refusal to let life’s inevitable misfortunes pull you under. The tide represents the forces that threaten to drag you down. It’s a celebration of grit and determination in the face of intractable odds.” \nJon Allen will celebrate the release of ‘Seven Dials’ by hitting the road with his band The Luna Kings: Randall Breneman (guitar)\, Phil Brickell (bass) and Adam Skinner (drums). \nPerforming 16th May at  Cardiff\, Acapela Studio \nTo book tickets visit:  https://acapela.co.uk/events/jon-allen-and-the-luna-kings/

SUMMARY:SHERMAN THEATRE & HIJINX’S ACCLAIMED PRODUCTION HOUSEMATES RETURNS IN 2025
DESCRIPTION:One of the highlights of Sherman Theatre’s 50th birthday year programme will return to the Cardiff theatre – and tour two other venues in Wales – in early 2025. \nHousemates by Tim Green\, which tells a remarkable story that took place just metres from the Sherman’s doors\, captured the hearts of audiences and won huge praise from critics during its original run in 2023. \nThe production is now preparing its return to the Sherman Theatre (28 Feb-8 March 2025) before touring to Aberystwyth Arts Centre (27-29 March) and The Torch Theatre\, Milford Haven (2-4 April). Further venues are to be announced. \nIn the 1960s\, institutionalised care for many learning disabled people was the norm and went largely unchallenged. Many learning disabled people spent their lives in institutions\, rarely seeing or encountering the world outside. But then\, in the early 70s\, something monumental happened in a Cardiff house\, a street away from the Sherman\, that became a new model for the way learning disabled people are supported. \nThis deeply moving play is filled with classic 70s hits played live and is performed by a cast of neurodivergent and neurotypical actor-musicians including members of Hijinx Theatre\, one of whom\, Gareth John\, was nominated for the Best Performer in a Play award in The Stage Debut Awards 2024. Housemates is co-directed by Sherman Artistic Director Joe Murphy and Hijinx Artistic Director Ben Pettitt-Wade. \nAlmost all of the original cast return\, including Hijinx actors Gareth John (Meet Fred Hijinx & Blind Summit\, Club Supreme Hijinx & Ramshackalicious)\, Lindsay Foster (Meet Fred Hijinx & Blind Summit\, The Crash Test Hijinx)\, Matthew Mullins (Rock Cliché\, The Crash Test Hijinx) and Richard Newnham (Meet Fred Hijinx & Blind Summit\, The Crash Test Hijinx) alongside James Ifan (Tales of the Brothers Grimm\, A Christmas Carol (2021) Sherman Theatre)\, Caitlin Lavagna (Operation Julie Theatr na nÓg; Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical)\, Peter Mooney (Peter Pan  Sherman Theatre / Theatr Iolo; Beautiful Curve Theatre/Theatre Royal Bath) and Eveangeleis Tudball (Writer Talk to me Spectacle Theatre; Performer Pirates of the Odyssey Inn Hijinx Odyssey). This year\, they are joined by Emily Ivana Hawkins (A Christmas Carol\, O.G. Prince of Wales Sherman Theatre). \nInnovate Trust\, who under the name CUSS were the charity that founded the house\, are project partners. Today\, Innovate Trust continues to support and empower learning disabled people across south Wales.

SUMMARY:L.S. DUNES ANNOUNCE HEADLINE SHOWS IN LEEDS + CARDIFF 2025
DESCRIPTION:Rock band L.S. Dunes have just announced two headline UK shows on 30th January at The Key Club\, Leeds and 10th February at The Globe\, Cardiff. Tickets are on sale 18th December 10am GMT. \nThe band recently shared their new single “Paper Tigers”\, out now via Fantasy Records. “Paper Tigers” marks the third track to be released from the band’s highly anticipated sophomore album\, Violet\, which will be out in full on 31st January \, 2025. \n“I think when I initially started writing the chord progression for this song I was originally writing it for myself\, because it didn’t feel like an L.S. Dunes song to me\, and if it was an L.S. Dunes song\, it would most certainly be a departure from what we had done in the past\,” recalls Frank Iero. “And then I started to think well\, that’s really silly of me\, why wouldn’t Dunes be able to do something like this? If I want listeners to not put us in a box and believe we can do anything then I’m going to have to believe it first. So I reworked the progression a little bit and sent it over. Hearing it now\, I can’t believe I ever doubted it. Paper Tigers was always an L.S. Dunes song. Together we can do anything.” \nAdds Tucker Rule: “This is the song I listen to most on our record. Yes\, I listen to my own record because I think it’s that good. This song scratches all the itches… sludgy tempo\, heavy ballad\, mega riffs\, soaring vocals and lots of space to play cool drums. This would be one of the songs I’d take to the deserted island with me. This is my favourite song on the record!” \nOn the new album Travis Stever shares\, “‘Violet’ is a sonic journey into the depths of every band member of L.S. Dunes. The collaborative efforts to bring each song to a full potential came naturally. It’s the album that has always lived in us individually but could only be made together. It has melodies that have lived within me since I was a child. It was only with this band I would be able to find a place where they could find a home in song.” \n\n The band will also be returning to the UK and Europe in early 2025 to support Rise Against. Full list of dates below. \nRise Against 2025 UK and EU tour dates + Headliners \nTuesday January 28 – 3Olympia\, Dublin\, IE \nWednesday January 29 – Telegraph\, Belfast\, NI \nThursday January 30- The Key Club\, Leeds \nSunday February 2 – L’Olympia\, Paris\, FR \nTuesday February 4 – O13\, Tillburg\, NL \nWednesday February 5 – Forrest National\, Brussels\, BE \nThursday February 6 – O2 Brixton Academy\, London\, UK \nSaturday February 8 – O2 Victoria Warehouse\, Manchester\, UK \nSunday February 9 –  O2 Academy\, Birmingham\, UK \nMonday February 10 – The Globe\, Cardiff\, UK \nWednesday February 12 – Velodrom\, Berlin\, DE \nFriday February 14 – Mitsubishi Electric Hall\, Düsseldorf\, DE \nSaturday February 15 – Sporthalle\, Hamburg\, DE \nMonday February 17 – Zenith\, Munich\, DE \nTuesday February 18 – myticket Jahrhunderthalle\, Frankfurt\, DE \nFriday\, February 21- Stattbanhof\, Schweinfurt\, GER \nSaturday\, February 22  – Volkshaus\, Zurich\, CH \nSunday\, February 23 – Stadthalle\, Vienna\, AT \nAbout L.S. Dunes: \nThe earliest version of L.S. Dunes—the one that introduced themselves to the world at Chicago’s Riot Fest in 2022 and went on to release their blissfully chaotic debut\, Past Lives\, later that year—was birthed in turbulence. There was a pandemic. There were time and family constraints. There were members away on tour with one of their many other bands: Anthony Green’s Saosin and Circa Survive\, Frank Iero’s My Chemical Romance\, Tim Payne and Tucker Rule’s Thursday\, and Travis Stever’s Coheed and Cambria\, among them. Somehow\, they managed to make it work\, releasing a few more singles along the way\, and touring the globe for a growing and passionate cult-like fanbase. By and large\, it was a successful first effort. But there were also some unforeseen consequences\, and as the album cycle came to an end\, there was at least one mistake that Green knew they needed to correct.

SUMMARY:Bilk share slick new video for 'Tommy' - to perform at Cardiff on the 6th of Feb
DESCRIPTION:Bilk have been building a cult-like grassroots following for a while now\, but 2025 will be the year they break into far bigger things with the January 24th release of their second album ‘Essex\, Drugs and Rock and Roll’. Their recent singles – ‘Summer Days’ and ‘On It’ – have shown that their ambition\, accomplishment and versatility has hit the next level\, without losing the chaotic streak and larger-than-life personality that sets them apart from the pack. With recent support including Radio X\, Clash and Dork\, that statement is reiterated as they now share the album’s latest single ‘Tommy’. \n‘Tommy’ is the sound of a band playing for maximal impact\, with bouncy hip-hop-meets-indie-rock verses setting the tone before unleashing the raw punk rush of the hook – with a killer elastic bassline and a searing hard rock solo thrown in for good measure. Vocalist/guitarist Sol Abrahams delivers every line with venom\, with the song’s story – a young woman whose life is wanted by falling in love with a waster – inspired by their local Essex heartlands\, but instantly recognisable everywhere across the UK. \nSol says\, “‘Tommy’ is the story of an aspiring actress who gets involved with this guy who’s a bit of a wrong ‘un and he takes her down the wrong path. I wrote it quickly and the solo is enough to melt your face clean off.” \n‘Tommy’ was written by Sol\, and recorded with his bandmates Luke Hare (bass) and Harry Gray (drums) at sessions split between Edge Studios and Silkmill Studios\, with production from Andy Gannon (AIKO\, The HARA). \nFrom debuting in 2018 to releasing their self-titled debut album in 2023\, Bilk’s ethos has always been about delivering gritty\, authentic rock ‘n’ roll that lives in the moment and provides an escape from the mundanity of daily life. It’s a stance that instigates unrestrained energy and drama at lives\, with memorable London headline gigs at Omeara\, The 100 Club and The Garage as well as an infamous Rough Trade in-store which resulted in them being banned from the shop\, plus big festival moments at Reading\, Leeds\, SXSW\, Truck\, The Great Escape and Louis Tomlinson’s Away From Home. \nBilk end 2024 by headlining a special fundraising show at Guildford’s Boileroom to benefit the mental health charity CALM. 2025 then gets underway with their most expansive headline tour to date\, which includes their biggest London show at the Electric Ballroom and then continues across Europe.
