A new series of fun, informal tennis sessions at local parks and clubs across Wales has got under way to inspire more women to play tennis more often. Women in South Wales are being invited to get on court for Tennis Tuesday – part of a drive to encourage more female players. Tennis Tuesday is part of a Britain-wide Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) initiative being trialled in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan by Tennis Wales. The Wales women’s over-35s team defeated England, Scotland and Ireland to win the Four Nations title at the Bolton Arena. The team comprised Ellen Jones, of the XL Academy/ Cardiff Metropolitan University; Linda Jones, who is a coach at David Lloyd, Finchley; and Carys Rees, a coach at Abergavenny.
