Valentine’s Day is often a celebration tied to excess, from lavish gifts to mass-produced tokens of affection. However, Lush is stripping all of that back, championing the idea that handcrafted care offers a level of thoughtfulness that factory-made products simply can’t replicate.
Attending their St. Dwynwen’s Day event, the Lush team reinforced the brand’s values throughout the day, with each activity reflecting their commitment to care, craftsmanship and community.
We were welcomed into the store with a refreshing pink raspberry and lime drink and given the time to browse the products. I immediately felt as though I had escaped the stress of the busy streets outside and stepped into a self-love haven.
We began by making our own face masks, a process that felt deeply therapeutic. Taking the time to create something nourishing for your skin was a gentle reminder to slow down and applying the face mask that evening felt even more rewarding knowing that I’d made it myself.
As a group, we combined natural ingredients including avocado, lemon, soya yoghurt, bergamot and kaolin. It was inspiring to see just how simple it can be to create something so healing using just natural components, and sharing the process as a group made it even more meaningful, reinforcing a collective focus on self-care.
Next, we headed upstairs to the Lush Spa, tucked away above the store. The peaceful space made it easy to forget we were still inside a bustling city-centre shop. While there, we chatted with the massage therapists, who explained the different butters used in their treatments and showed us the products in their raw form, offering insight into the care and thought behind each experience.
After learning more about the spa treatments, we were given a sneak peek into how Lush goes the extra mile even after a treatment has finished. The team demonstrated how they create their signature end-of-treatment drinks, complete with a mist-filled bubble that makes for the perfect Instagram moment. We even had a go at creating the bubble ourselves and I was pleasantly surprised by my bubble-making skills!
We were then shown one of the treatment rooms, where staff explained the procedures and techniques used to promote ultimate relaxation, including bespoke soundtracks and softly lit rooms designed to calm the senses. Feeling as though we’d already experienced a treatment just by being in the space, we headed back downstairs into the lively store to explore the new Valentine’s collection.
What truly sets Lush apart is the knowledge and passion of its staff, alongside the ability to try products before purchasing. After learning about and smelling the entire collection, one standout for me was the beautifully presented Love Burger, a playful yet indulgent combination of bath bombs, a bubble bar and soap, making it the ultimate Valentine’s treat.
As a die-hard Scrubee fan, I was also drawn to the Love Bug Scrubee. Covered in red metallic glitter and made with ground cherry stones, the adorable bee exfoliates the skin while leaving it incredibly soft, a wonder product in my opinion!
The fun continued as we watched the products come to life in the sink, revealing vibrant colours and scents. From floral and fruity to rich chocolatey notes, the Valentine’s range truly offers something for everyone.
To round off the experience, we booked our very own Validation Facial at the store. After meeting the wonderful spa team and learning about the techniques involved, I couldn’t be more excited to return.
I left feeling utterly impressed by Lush’s dreamy new Valentine’s range. It’s perfect whether you’re spoiling a partner or carving out time for some much-needed self-care. With something for everyone, Lush proves that showing love doesn’t need to be overcomplicated to feel truly meaningful.
