I have an undeniable sweet tooth so when I received an invitation to Heavenly Desserts, I felt like I was in heaven!
Upon entering, the staff were immensely friendly, despite being busy in a mid-afternoon rush. We soon realised why it is so popular! Tucked away on Windsor Place, this restaurant has plenty to offer. Lots of outdoor seating as well as indoor seating, a wide selection of savoury brunch dishes as well as a myriad of delicious, sweet treats.
Last year, Heavenly Desserts launched their brunch concepts to incorporate bold new dishes and elevated favourites. Since the anniversary of this launch, we wanted to taste the best of brunch and the restaurant’s favourite dishes.
The full breakfast instantly took my fancy with the lamb bacon and THIS isn’t sausages – a total winner! The subtle twist on a classic full breakfast elevated this dish. The spiced beans surprisingly took the limelight!
When reading the menu, we pieced together that a croffle is a blend between a waffle and a croissant – something neither of us had tried before. What a combination! The inventive croffle was soft and buttery, a delightful addition to the bowl.
And unforgettably, the hash brown bites lived up to their hype!
To follow this hearty bowl, we tried the new Eton Mess Cheesecake.
A perfectly designed biscuit base and delicately topped cheesecake, drizzled with vanilla milk syrup. The strawberries compliment the creamy, rich cheesecake topped with the crunchy meringue. The sprig of mint also added a refreshing pop of colour and flavour. The classic British ‘Eton Mess’ is beautifully transformed. And priced at £8.95, this dessert is a total success.
We then tackled the Royale – a waffle doused in Nutella, ordained with Ferrero Roche and paired with cocoa hazelnut gelato. This dessert is perfect for chocoholics. The crisp edge to the waffle gives way to a fluffy interior and each mouthful is a celebration of Nutella in all its glory.
Finally, to wash it all down, we finished with the mango and passionfruit smoothie. A match made in heaven, served at a cool temperature, instantly transported us to a tropical paradise. The rich sweetness of the mangoes balanced with the tangy passionfruit – a truly delectable smoothie.
As this was our first visit to Heavenly Desserts, I can readily say that I will returning! Reasonably priced and high quality, delicious food, this restaurant is a winner!
