Lush Spa’s 60-minute Validation Facial creates the space to do exactly that. Beginning with a personalised consultation, the treatment is carefully curated using products tailored to your skin’s needs, in that moment. My skin felt treated exactly the way I wanted it to be and I left feeling far more in tune with both my body and the products applied to it.
For me, this wasn’t simply a spa treatment. It was an opportunity to understand what my skin truly needs and how best to care for it going forward, not just for the duration of a luxurious 60-minute experience. More than anything, it reminded me of the importance of being present and intentionally checking in with myself long after the facial had ended.
The treatment began with my spa therapist, Liz, inviting me to complete a short consultation form. Rather than focusing purely on skin concerns, she asked how I wanted my skin to feel after the treatment had ended, and to choose two words I wanted to carry with me throughout the facial. These words of validation were later woven into the bespoke soundtrack by Lush Fresh Handmade Sound, intertwined with the gentle sounds of the beach and a soft orchestral score, creating an experience that felt deeply personal.
While sipping on cucumber water, we talked through my current skincare routine and what I felt my skin was lacking. From there, we trialled and selected the fresh, handmade products that would be used throughout the 13-step routine. I was encouraged to smell each product and test them on my skin, ensuring they were the right fit. This was a thoughtful touch that made the entire experience feel much more collaborative rather than prescriptive.
We then headed into the treatment room, where a heated bed and thick duvet were waiting for me. Before the facial had even begun, I felt my body start to fully relax.
It didn’t take long for me to completely unwind. Liz’s relaxing massage techniques, paired with the gentle sound of the ocean flowing through the bespoke soundtrack, created a calm, almost meditative atmosphere that allowed me to switch off.
My skin was deeply cleansed and exfoliated before warm towels cocooned my face in heat, followed by a nourishing face mask. Hot stones were used to ease tension, before cool eye masks and refreshing moisturiser brought a contrasting sense of lightness and clarity. The lymphatic drainage techniques, including rhythmic plucking movements designed to stimulate blood flow, left my skin feeling awakened and revitalised.
The rhythm of the soundtrack was thoughtfully aligned with each stage of the treatment. Slow, calming movements unfolded alongside softer music, before gradually building into more invigorating techniques as the tempo rose.
The experience extended beyond my face, too. I was treated to a soothing hand and arm massage, along with a hot stone massage across my neck and upper back, which melted away any lingering tension and made the treatment feel completely holistic.
The session concluded with a gentle leg stretch, a welcome addition after lying still for an hour. I couldn’t believe how quickly the time had passed; it felt like I could have stayed there all day!
What made the experience truly special was Liz’s depth of knowledge. From the fresh ingredients in each product to the purpose behind every technique, she explained everything with such clarity and passion. Nothing felt unnecessary or rushed, every step had intention and no detail felt out of place.
After admiring how glowy and renewed my skin looked, I made my way down to the relaxation area, where a freshly prepared fruit drink was waiting for me topped with a steam-filled bubble, a beautiful aesthetic touch.
Before leaving, I was invited to explore any products or ranges that caught my eye. A lovely member of the team guided me through the new Paddington range, which I was especially excited to try.
Overall, it was a wonderful morning and a treatment unlike any I’ve experienced before. Lush consistently goes above and beyond to make every visit feel personal and considered. I left feeling calm, renewed and completely in love with my glowing skin.
