Bright Light Bright Light 5k A Day Charity Run

07/02/2017

Rod Thomas, aka Bright Light Bright Light, electro-pop singer and ambassador of Pride Cymru and Localiving, has dedicated his time and energy to running 5k for 5 days from 20th to the 26th February 2017 to help raise money towards the charity that hes not only passionate about but also proud of supporting, Pride Cymru .

Rod quoted, I grew up in the south wales Valleys where social media wasn’t a thing, and culture different from your own was really hard to connect with.

Organisations like Pride Cymru are absolutely essential, providing not only support for the LGBTQ community through their work, but in their visibility, showing LGBTQ people who don’t have other LGBTQ people in their immediate communities that there are other people like them out there, and that they’re not alone.

Pride Cymru work hard to fight  for equal rights and visibility in my home country of Wales, and i am very proud to help raise money to support their tireless and crucial efforts.

Lu Thomas, chair of Pride Cymru, notes that the pride Cymru team were deeply touched and grateful for the amazing support and generosity Rod has given the charity.

Lu quoted, As a charity we rely entirely on volunteers to organise and run the event, so this recognition and support by such an amazing artist is recognition for the team, who are quite simply, brilliant! I would just like to say thank you very, very much and extend an invite to Rod to possibly come and headline our event which is held at the civic centre this August Bank holiday, Pride Cymru Big Weekend.

Rod and Pride Cymru have linked up with Localgiving where you can make your donation online by visiting https://localgiving.org/fundraising/blbl5kaday/ ,links can also be found at bright light bright lights twitter page @brightlightx2.

Lauren Swain, South wales Development Manager for Localgiving further quoted, Pride Cymru have recently signed up to Localgiving’s new programme, which offers a free year of help with online fundraising to 250 groups in Wales.

Pride Cymru has really committed to the Wales programme and I am delighted to link them with our Localgiving ambassador, Rod Thomas. They both greatly care about Pride Cymru’s work and it is amazing that Rod is doing so much to support community groups in South Wales.

It is a privilege to support them both in making the most of of this exciting fundraiser and to offer our members unique opportunities like this. I hope they will enjoy a wonderful on-going relationship.

Once again Pride Cymru would like to thank Rod for his continued support and dedication to the charity and the LGBTQ community in Wales.
