British Lung foundation walk

We run sessions designed to improve strength & balance, reducing the risk of falls. I started my first session over 18 months ago at the Star Leisure centre. This group decided they wanted a challenge. Between 6 of us we decided on a 5K walk around Roath park lake. Some of the guys at this session suffer with COPD so raising money for the BLF was an easy choice.

I then started to mention the walk to the other community groups we run and interest started to build. People wanted to get involved, not only to raise some money for charity but for themselves, to get more active and meet new people.

On the day there were 29 of us, which was amazing! Everyone got around without stopping and even the sun came out for us. Lots of money was raised and individuals have since been enquiring about walking groups in the area as they want to continue being more active. We haven’t got al the money in as yet but early calculations look like we will be well over £1000, another amazing effort.
