Prize winning artist presents large-scale solo exhibition in Cardiff

The Sustainable Studio will host ‘Labyrinth’ a solo exhibition of paintings by Cardiff based artist, Aidan Myers.

Myers is a contemporary fine artist specialising in figurative and abstract oil painting and has been based in Cardiff since 2011 and works from a studio in Adamsdown.

In 2017 he was selected as overall winner of the OrielCRiC Open Art Prize 2017 in Crickhowell, Wales for his painting ‘Pinion’.

Myers graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2014 studying BA Hons Fine Artcourse at Cardiff School of Art & Design and has gone on to work with a number of galleries and art consultants in Cardiff and London.

His paintings are in public and private collections in Wales, Scotland, England, USA and Hong Kong.

Throughout the manyprocesses involved with creating his paintings, Myers uses references from life drawings and knowledge of human anatomy as a main point of orientation.

He encompasses a chaotic, entangled range of ideas, energies, instinctive gestures and spaces within the paintings, which are to be perceived and explored in individual ways by the viewer.

Aidan Myers says,

“This is an incredibly exciting and significant chance for me to present a new series of paintings that I’ve been working on since 2016.

‘Labyrinth’ relates to the non-linear patterns in my studio through the creative processes, thought processes and the way in which my ideas surface. It also relates to the constant movement and energy that is within the paint.

I’m eager for my ideas to be shared, tested and constructively challenged by the public and thankful to The Sustainable Studio for their support”.

The Sustainable Studio adds:

“We’re delighted to host this incredible exhibition and the opportunity to see Myers’ 6ft and 7ft paintings in our space is an opportunity not to be missed.

Aidan is someone who we are proud to support, he is incredibly talented and we have a commitment and dedication to support emerging artists create a sustainable career in Wales.”

The ‘Labyrinth’ launch event will be held on Friday, May 18th, 6pm – 9pm at The Sustainable Studio where people can view Myers’ work with musical mixes by Deejay Comic.
