Cardiff Tesco is ‘In The Pink’ To Support Race For Life.

Cardiff Tesco is encouraging people in the city to support Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life by popping to their local Tesco store to see it ‘turn pink’ this weekend (April 5th & 6th).

The nationwide ‘Tesco Turns Pink’ weekend will see thousands of Tesco colleagues unite across the UK to raise vital funds to help beat cancer.

Tesco colleagues across the city are set to embark on a variety of fun fundraising activities in-store, giving visitors the opportunity to find out more about joining their local Race for Life events, including the 5k in the city which takes place in July. There will also be a chance for customers to bag a limited number of free entry places to their local Race for Life event.

Steve Pugh, Tesco Extra Cardiff’s Store Manager said: “Our ‘Tesco Turns Pink’ weekend is a fantastic way for colleagues and customers alike to support Tesco’s partnership with Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. It’s also a great opportunity to come together to raise vital funds for the charity.

“I’ve been really impressed with the amount of team members who have committed to take part across the city. Cancer is indiscriminate and nearly everyone will either be affected by it, or know someone who has, so we’re determined to raise as much as we can!”

Tesco has been the proud partner of Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life for 18 years.
Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco, is an inspiring series of 5k, 10k, Pretty Muddy and Pretty Muddy Kids events which raise millions of pounds every year to help beat cancer by funding crucial research.

This year, for the first time, Cancer Research UK is inviting everyone – women, men and children – to join the Race for Life events.

Sarah Pickersgill, Head of Events Marketing for Cancer Research UK, added: “We are very grateful for the support of the Tesco team in Cardiff and we wish them every success for their Tesco Turns Pink weekend. By joining the Race for Life, everyone can make a real difference to people with cancer, right now.

“Race for Life events are fun, colourful and uplifting. Taking part in the events enables like-minded people to get together and remember loved ones lost to cancer or celebrate the lives of those who have survived.”

Thanks to everyone who raises money, Cancer Research UK is able to support research to fight 200 types of cancer. The good news is more people are surviving the disease than ever before. Cancer survival in the UK has double since the early 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress.

If people in Cardiff want to take part in a Race for Life event, they can register now via raceforlife.org or call 0300 123 0770.
