Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra at St Davids Hall

22/03/2017

THE prestigious International Concert Series continues with a breathtaking performance from the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra at St David’s Hall on Saturday 1 April.

Sam Price 50%

Starting at 7.30pm, acclaimed Conductor Michael Sanderling leads the orchestra through Beethoven’s first and last symphonies – a journey charting his life which changed the classical music forever.

Sharing the stage will be the supremely talented quartet of Samantha Price (mezzo-soprano), Anita Watson (soprano), Alexander James Edwards (tenor) and Thomas Faulkner (bass) accompanied by Cardiff Ardwyn Singers and Cardiff Polyphonic Choir.

From the gauntlet thrown down at the outset of the joyful First Symphony through to the epic grandeur of the Choral Symphony, this promises to be a rollercoaster of an evening.

“The Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra is an impressive beast … it was the quality of string playing that stood out most memorably with fire-in-the belly-tone that left a deep impression”
