The England Men’s Cricket Team will be among the sports clubs holding workshops and learning Welsh at Tafwyl Festival in Cardiff Castle on July 4-5, 2015.

As part of the England Cricket Team’s preparations for the Investec Ashes Test Match held at the Swalec Stadium on July 8, 2015, some of the players will be among those celebrating the Welsh language and learning a few sentences between 1200 and 1300 on Sunday, July 5, 2015.

England captain, Alastair Cook, says:
“We are very excited to visit Tafwyl Festival at Cardiff Castle. In preparation for the Investec Ashes Test Match at Cardiff, the guys are keen to meet local fans and learn some Welsh!”

Also on Tafwyl’s sporting line-up the Rugby World Cup Trophy will be visiting Cardiff Castle on Saturday, July 4, as part of its World Cup Trophy Tour around Britain.

Joining England’s Cricket Team to hold sport workshops are WRU, Golf Wales, Cardiff City FC, Glamorgan Cricket Club and a climbing wall supplied by Boulders. The sports area at the Tafwyl fair is once again curated and run by the Urdd.

Siân Lewis, Menter Caerdydd’s Chief Executive, says:

“Watching and taking part in sport is a part of life in Cardiff. Therefore it’s important for us to give our visitors a range of different opportunities and experiences and to showcase that you can enjoy sport through the medium of Welsh. We are also very excited that the England Cricket Team will be visiting us to learn more about the Welsh language in Cardiff and to offer their support before their test match.”
