‘Explore Learning’ opens first centre in Wales

08/12/2015

Explore Learning, the popular provider of maths and English tuition for children aged five to 14 is opening the doors to its first centre in Cardiff, Wales. Explore Learning has a growing presence throughout the UK and just this year has opened 11 new centres. The new education centre will bring Explore Learning’s unique and affordable tuition to Wales and create 20 jobs in the area.

Local MP Craig Williams will be attending the centre launch at 2:15pm on Thursday 27th November to declare it officially open to the local community.

Harriet Fox, Centre Director at Explore Learning in Cardiff, says: “We are very excited to open our first centre in Cardiff. Already the local community have been really enthusiastic about our arrival. Myself and the other two managers all went to Cardiff University and know the area well. We are looking forward to returning to Cardiff and bringing our unique tuition to children from the local area. Feedback so far has been that there is nothing like what we offer here and local families as well as schools and libraries have said they are looking forward to working with us and visiting our centre to see what we offer.”

As well as tuition in maths and English, Explore Learning will be running additional content courses in Creative Writing, Entrance Exam preparation, whilst also offering a course that equips children with the skills to make a successful transition to secondary school. The team will be introducing these courses from early next year.  They will also be working closely with local schools and community groups, organising fun and interactive workshops around their annual National Young Writers’ and National Young Mathematicians’ Awards.

Lise McCaffery, Curriculum Development Manager at Explore Learning, says:Children of all abilities come to us for extra help in maths and English or to enjoy learning in a new, social environment. This year a new curriculum was introduced in Wales so this is a great time for us to arrive in the Cardiff community to ease this transition. All of our content is mapped to the Curriculum for Wales to support what children are learning in the classroom in Cardiff.  We look forward to assisting their development during their sessions in our new centre.”

Children receive tuition at a ratio of one tutor to six children, meaning they get plenty of attention. Each child’s development is mapped to the Curriculum for Wales, ensuring what they learn complements their studies at school. There are centres across the whole of the UK and this is the company’s 119th centre to open.

Standard membership is £109 per month but discounts are available for some parents who are on income support or have more than one child attending.  All parents are eligible for a FREE trial session where parents and children can come in, meet the tutors and receive an assessment to see how Explore Learning can help benefit their child.

The new Explore Learning centre is located in District Shopping Centre, Excalibur Drive, Thornhill, Cardiff
