Christmas at the Castle

Cardiff Castle is open to visitors 7 days a week all year round, apart from the 25 and 26 December and 1 January.

If you’re looking for a quiet break from all the Christmas preparations, a winter walk could be just what’s needed. From gentle strolls to bracing hikes, there’s a fantastic range of routes and paths where you can enjoy fresh air and the beautiful scenery around you – and all of them look magical with a fine dusting of sparkling frost.


Dyffryn Gardens, Cardiff

Step into nature with a stroll through Dyffryn Gardens. Follow the self-guided winter walk to discover all the garden’s seasonal highlights, and young explorers can join Percy the Park Keeper and friends on a winter adventure. Afterwards stop by the shop for a spot of Christmas shopping, or warm up with a hot drink and a festive treat in the Café.
Open daily 10am-4pm*. Percy the Park Keeper Trail runs from 4 December to 9 January. £2 per trail pack. Normal admission prices apply. *Property closed 25 and 26 December.

Tredegar House
The trees are up, stockings hung, and a traditional Tredegar House Christmas awaits you – but watch out for Mr Scrooge with his faded night gown and furrowed frown as you explore! Garden open 11am-4pm (House 11am-3.30pm) until 22 December. Mr Scrooge will be prowling the house from 17-22 December only. Percy the Park Keeper Trail runs daily from 17-22 December. £2 per trail pack. Normal admission prices apply.
