First Byte Night launches in Wales! Welsh businesses challenged to sleep out

18/05/2016

Welsh professionals working in business and IT-related sectors are being set the challenge of spending a night exposed to the elements at the Principality Stadium on Friday 7th October to raise funds for Action for Children’s ‘Byte Night.’

Byte Night is holding a special launch and quiz night event on Wednesday 18th May at Cardiff Arms Park from 6-9pm. Companies big and small from across Wales will be given the opportunity to take part in a great quiz night and find out how they can get involved in Byte Night and raise money to ensure disadvantaged young people get the support they need and have a safe place to live.

This year’s event is expected to see over 1,700 sleepers across ten UK cities sleep out, and raise funds for the charity’s work of ensuring every child has a safe and loving place to call home – and this is the first time the event has come to Wales.

David Sadler, Head of IT Recruitment at Acorn, co-chair of the Byte Night Wales board, will host the event. He said: “Wales is a passionate and generous country and I’m so pleased Byte Night is coming to Cardiff.  I’d like to invite all businesses from across Cardiff and Wales to come to our quiz night, have fun and find out more about Byte Night.

“It’s a huge coup to have secured the Principality Stadium for our inaugural event and with our enthusiastic, creative and well-connected board we are aiming to smash our target of £65,000.  Byte Night is a unique professional networking opportunity as well as a chance to support some of the young people in our society who need it the most – one night really can make a lifetime’s difference.”

Teams from Cardiff companies including Acorn, Admiral, Amber Group, BT, Capital Networks, Spindogs, KPMG, Cardiff Start and CGI and have already signed up.

Brigitte Gater, director of children’s services at Action for Children, added: “Action for Children has a long and proud history in Wales, helping the most disadvantaged children, young people and their families since 1911.  I’m delighted that Wales now has its own Byte Night event.  It is a truly UK-wide event with Wales on board and I’m sure the Cardiff sleep out at the Principality Stadium will be a tremendous success.

The Byte Night Wales launch event is open to everyone and takes place from 6pm to 9pm on Wednesday 18th May at Cardiff Arms Park, Westgate Street, Cardiff CF10 1JA.  Please go to https://bytenightwales2016.eventbrite.co.uk/ if you and your company would like to attend.
