Retirement development Llys Pegasus, managed by FirstPort Retirement Property Services, has won a silver award at the National Housing for Older People Awards.
The residents of the development, located in Cardiff, along with their Development Manager, celebrated their win in the ‘Retirement Housing Schemes 50 units and over’ category at an awards ceremony in February.
More than 4,000 residents from across the UK voted in the awards which are managed by the national housing charity for older people, the Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC). In total, two FirstPort developments won an award, with one additional development commended.
To enter the awards residents had to score their development on a variety of statements relating to both the quality of the property and the care, support and general sense of wellbeing they enjoy there.
Residents at Llys Pegasus rated the development particularly highly for its convenient location, the building design and shared facilities. The communal areas were given the highest rating possible. The location of the development was rated the best out of more than 1,100 entries in the category, with the facilities on offer at the development also rated best in class.
Keith Shields, Managing Director of FirstPort Retirement Property Services, commented: “It is testament to the excellent sense of community that our residents have rated the communal spaces as the best in the category, beating hundreds of other developments from across the UK. I am delighted that Llys Pegasus has been recognised in this way and we hope the residents are too.”
Heulwen Egerton, a resident from Llys Pegasus said: “We’re thrilled to have won silver at the awards. The awards ceremony was a fabulous occasion and a real celebration of retirement living. There’s a wonderful atmosphere at Llys Pegasus, and we consider ourselves very fortunate to live here.”
The awards ceremony took place on 17 February at Hilton Manchester Deansgate.
