Friends of Nant Fawr Community Woodlands Celebrate 30th Anniversary with community Event


The Friends of Nant Fawr Community Woodlands are delighted to announce their 30th Anniversary Celebratory Event, to be held on Sunday, July 7th, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This milestone event, in association with Cardiff Council, Dŵr Cymru/Welsh Water, Butterfly Conservation, Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales, Cardiff Naturalist’s Society, Friends of Cardiff Reservoirs, and Keep Wales Tidy, promises a fun-filled day for the entire family.

Since its establishment, the Friends of Nant Fawr Community Woodlands have been dedicated to preserving and enhancing this precious natural habitat for both wildlife and the local community. This anniversary celebration will honour three decades of environmental stewardship, management and community engagement.


Event Highlights:

•  Nature Walks: Led by experts from the Friends of Nant Fawr Community Woodlands these walks will offer insights into the rich biodiversity of Nant Fawr.
•  Information Workshops: focusing on nature, led by the Cardiff branch of the Wildlife Trust for South and SW Wales, Cardiff Naturalist’s Society, Butterfly Conservation group and Cardiff Council’s      Biodiversity Team.
•  Children’s Activities: Fun and educational activities suitable for children aged 5-12, including, Explorer Trail and Scavenger Hunt, butterfly and moth identification and identification of species found in the local Nant Fawr stream.
•  History and aims of the Friends of Nant Fawr Community Woodlands: Learn more about the ongoing efforts to preserve Nant Fawr and how you can get involved, with representatives from the Friends group.
•  Other supporting groups: Dŵr Cymru/Welsh Water and Keep Wales Tidy Cardiff representatives.


The Friends of Nant Fawr are proud to celebrate this significant milestone with the community. The event is a testament to the hard work and dedication of volunteers and partners over the past 30 years. We look forward to welcoming everyone for a day of fun, learning, and appreciation of our beautiful Woodlands and meadows in Nant Fawr.

The event is free and open to the public. Families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone interested in learning more about local conservation efforts are encouraged to attend.
