The plant-based and meat-free movement is gaining momentum across the UK as people become more mindful about their diet. Whether for health or environmental reasons, research shows almost one third (31%) of the UK are consciously eating less meat and across social media, the hashtag #meatfreemonday is continuing to grow.
Eating out and following a meat-free diet can be challenging, so Harvester has stepped up to the plate with the launch of Meat-Free Mondays, offering diners who want to cut back on their meat intake, a delicious and affordable alternative for the start of the week. With nearly 200 Harvester restaurants across the UK, it’s never been easier to go meat-free.
Adding to the restaurant’s meat-free credentials, the promotion comes off the back of the new Vegan menu released earlier this year which was celebrated for its nod to the familiar flavours Harvester diners are used to. Harvester has also partnered with vegetarian food masters Quorn™ for a range of new vegetarian dishes.
On Meat-Free Mondays, diners can enjoy some of the vegetarian and vegan options available for £6 from 5pm. Options include:
• The Quorn® BBQ Stack, the veggie version of a Harvester favourite with grilled Quorn® fillets, Monterey Jack cheese and BBQ sauce, topped with bacon flavour crunch and southern-fried Quorn® bites, with triple-cooked chunky chips, slaw and buttered corn.
• Spinach and Ricotta Pasta with spinach, ricotta and artichoke, in a creamy tomato and basil sauce, topped with feta and garlic bread.
• Thai Green Curry featuring sweet potato and mixed vegetables in an aromatic coconut broth. Served with coconut and rice and garnished with fresh chilli, spring onion and a flour tortilla.
• Feta and Butternut Squash Moussaka featuring butternut squash and spinach, layered with slices of potato and aubergine, topped with a creamy feta and goat’s cheese sauce.
Other favourites include the Halloumi Wrap, Southern Fried Quorn® Wrap, Cajun Quorn Wrap, Camembert and Cherry Tomato Tart, Spicy Sweetcorn Fritters, Cajun Quorn Fillets Feel Good Salad, Herb-Battered Halloumi Chips, Chilli Non Carni, The Beyond Bean Burger and The Purist Burger, a stand out from the new vegan menu released earlier in the year.
Kerry Payne, Marketing Manager at Harvester commented on the launch: “Meat-Free Mondays will see our customers benefit from more delicious food choices, whether they’re a devoted carnivore, a veggie, vegan or simply looking to cut back on meat.”
Prices start at £6 for vegan and vegetarian dishes, available to try now at Harvester restaurants across the UK. Diners can also add a starter to their meal from one of the many vegan and vegetarian options.
