Guests at Hilton’s annual charity ball have raised more than £23,000 for local charities at the gala evening.

More than 250 guests attended the black-tie event at Hilton Cardiff to raise money in aid of the Cardiff City FC Community Foundation and DM Thomas Foundation.

Guest host of the evening was British Comedy Award winner, singer and comedian Mike Doyle who entertained guests alongside a delicious three-course meal designed by Mark Freeman the Head Chef at Hilton.

The highlight of the evening was the raffle and charity auction with the star prize being a magical eight-night stay in Orlando for two, staying for four nights at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Palace followed by four nights at Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina with £400 towards flights.

Other charity auction prizes included use of an Aston Martin DB11 for the weekend and a week in Italy staying at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice for two nights, following by two nights at the Curio La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort Siena and three nights at Hilton Florence for two.

This year, Hilton Cardiff supported two local charities: Cardiff City FC Community Foundation and DM Thomas Foundation.

Cardiff City FC Community Foundation helps support children, young people and families in South Wales to achieve their full potential. The Bluebirds Charity do this by offering a range of programmes that inspire education, improve health & wellbeing and build safer communities.

The DM Thomas Foundation helps transform the lives of disadvantaged young people through supporting a wide range of fantastic projects that allow them to reach their full potential and create brighter futures.

Marie Fagan, general manager at Hilton Cardiff said “Each year, the generosity of our guests exceeds itself.

“This year is no exception with an amazing result from the auction and an entertaining evening which we shared with those from our community.

“We managed to achieve/exceed our target of raising £30k for the evening which is a huge accomplishment that will greatly benefit our charities.

“It is important to us that we support these charities as they are local and make a true difference to young lives.

“I would like to thank everyone that attended the ball and was a part of making the evening so special.

“We are grateful for the huge generosity from the attendees and we look forward to hosting the ball again next year.”

Gavin Hawkey, Foundation Director at the Cardiff City FC Community Foundation said: “We’re thrilled that Hilton Cardiff are supporting the Foundation for a second year running.

“Last year we worked with more than 17,000 people across Cardiff.

“The money raised at last year’s foundation ball allowed us to support children, young people and vulnerable adults living in disadvantaged communities in South Wales.

“Our club really does change lives and the money raised from this year’s event will enable us to continue to inspire education, improve health & wellbeing and build safer communities.

“I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hilton Cardiff for their continued support”
