JacDo introduces new ‘Crafternoon’s’ to keep your little ones busy!

19/01/2016

Cardiff based company, JacDo, hope to encourage more children in the area to learn through play and learn by doing with their brand new Crafternoon workshops.  Available for children aged between 3 and 8 years, the arts and crafts sessions will be held each Saturday throughout January in the Chapter Arts Centre, Canton, and will offer parents a much deserved break as their little ones get creative.

Primarily a subscription based service, JacDo offers busy parents monthly boxes, full to the brim with arts and crafts activities to engage their children’ imagination and provide them with an extra step up the educational ladder. The contents of every box is always a complete surprise, but a child might receive recipe cards and ingredients for flapjacks, exploding science experiments or seeds to grow their own tomato plant. All of JacDo’s activities are connected to the Foundation Stage of the National Curriculum and everything has been designed to be dyslexia friendly in addition to encourage learning in both English and Welsh.

Following the success of their ‘Crafternoon for Bloggers’ in October, the team at JacDo decided to roll out the sessions in the new year and this time, opening them to the public. Split into 2 sessions, each Saturday afternoon will allow children to make and take home their crafts and every workshop will be held in English and Welsh.

Aside from being great fun and enjoyable, JacDo founder and former teacher, Megan Evans believes there are huge benefits for children in crafting.

“Creative activities promote good hand to eye coordination, problem solving skills, and allow young imaginations to flourish.  Children also learn to follow instructions in sequence teaching them the importance of doing things in order. These are skills that are often overlooked, but will prove invaluable as a child grows up”.

Each JacDo Crafternoon workshop costs £6 per child and includes the cost all materials and crafts needed, allowing the child to take home their creation at the end of the day. For more information, please visit:  www.chapter.org/jacdo-crafternoons
