Local student Sarah Goddard will be travelling to Bogota Columbia to carry out research for a Public Health Programme.
This June Welsh student Sarah will be travelling to Bogota Columbia for a four-week placement at the Institute of Public Health at the Pontificia Javeriana University in Bogota. Calon Cymru Fostering are pleased to sponsor Sarah’s research trip which will provide priceless information for her university studies, gaining a different perspective of public health in a country very different from our own.
Sarah has shared with us the type of work she will be involved in while on her research trip:
“we will get a chance to meet and hear about the work of non-governmental organisations (charities) who manage mental health and chronic disease programmes in Bogota. I will be learning about the health system of Colombia and how years of conflicts have affected the health of the population. I will also get the opportunity to visit the Ministry of Health, National Institute of Health, Military Centre for Rehabilitation and public and private hospitals.”
