Mad Dog Brewing Co. are embarking on a series of challenges to increase awareness of mental health problems and raise vital funds for Welsh mental health charity Hafal.

Mad Dog Brewing Co. founder Alexis Jones (left) and head brewer Stuart Watkins (right) will be taking on some extraordinary challenges over the next year to increase awareness of mental health and raise money for Hafal, Wales’ principal charity for people with a serious mental illness and their carers.

On 20th July the pair will start off with a 20-minute, 8lb rib-eating challenge at the Glascoed Pub. Next they will embark on a 26-mile hike across the Wye Valley in September, from Chepstow to Monmouth.

In March 2020 the pair will be sky diving from an astounding 12,000 feet! Finally, Alexis will finish off the series of challenges in June 2020 by completing an epic 40 mile ultra-marathon, running along the Welsh Coast path from Porthcawl to Penarth.

Speaking about the four challenges they’re about to embark on, Alexis said: “The thing is about these challenges is that by setting your goal so high you’re empowering your mind.

“We’d love you all to please donate, whether it’s 50 pence, a pound, £10 or £50… whatever you can do. Go to the JustGiving page – let’s raise awareness of mental health and Hafal, for all the great work they always do.”

Commenting on the challenges, Hafal CEO Alun Thomas said: “Hafal Members would like to send a huge thank you to Alexis and Stuart for this incredible effort and for choosing Hafal as their charity.

“These challenges certainly won’t be easy but I can assure them both that we will be cheering them on all the way – and we wish them all the very best!”
