Family-owned retailer Matalan will open its first ever store on the UK high street at 43 Queen Street, Cardiff this Thursday 30th October at 10am. Welsh designer Julien Macdonald, who has created forthcoming men’s and women’s wear collections for the brand, will be cutting the ribbon and officially announcing the store as open for trade, whilst Welsh children’s choir
Nidus entertain customers and passersby. In keeping with Matalan’s family focused ethos and having won the Mumsnet Gold Star award in 2013, the new store has been designed with Mums in mind, providing an inspiring, comfortable, easy shopping experience for everyone. The new 40,000 sq feet store is split across four floors with key product ranges including womenswear, menswear, homeware and childrenswear displayed alongside store exclusive features such as large family friendly fitting rooms, baby area and ‘Style Me’ visuals showing how-to guides when creating Matalan looks at home.
Matalan, recognising Cardiff as one of the country’s top shopping cities, snapped up the sought after Cardiff space after Primark moved to an alternate location. The new store will bring the total number of UK stores to 218, with Matalan joining retailers such as Primark, New Look, Topshop and Marks & Spencer on Cardiff’s busy Queen Street. Jason Hargreaves said: “We are excited to open our first high street store within Cardiff’s vibrant city centre. Keeping family at the heart of everything we do, the store has been designed to make shopping with a family on the high street that little bit easier.”
