AS WELSH FILM INDUSTRY GROWS, THE DEMAND FOR SUPPORTING ARTISTS SOARS!

Uni-versal Extras are heading to Cardiff on the lookout for supporting artists to join their books for feature film and television work as the film industry in South Wales explodes.

The Pinewood Studios-based casting agency is the UK’s leading Extras agency with a proven track record of supplying supporting artistes for film, broadcast TV and commercial clients. Recent credits include Mary Poppins Returns, numerous Star Wars films and the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

Wayne Berko, Managing Director of Uni-versal Extras, comments: “We supply extras for TV and Film across the UK and Ireland, in recent years Wales has really grown in popularity with film makers. With the recent exciting news that Bad Wolf (Production company) have taken up permanent residence in Pinewood Wales, Wales has a bright future in high-end Television drama. Of course, with this increase in filming, the demand for background artists has also grown! We are looking for people to come and register to work as a supporting artist with us for a number of thrilling projects in the region. We look forward to meeting everyone”

This is a fabulous opportunity for people in South Wales to get involved in a number of film and television productions being filmed across the regions in the coming months. The open casting itself is completely free to attend and any roles obtained are paid work – the only requirement is that any person attending must be over 16½ years of age with the right to work in the UK.

Amy Leyshon, Event Coordinator, born and raised in South Wales states: ‘It’s great to see the Welsh film industry finally taking off as in the past it has struggled to attract, and keep, big productions in the area. But now with companies like Netflix choosing South Wales to film their original series like ‘Sex Education’ and ‘The End of the F***ing World’, or Bad Wolf’s long-awaited adaptation of Phillip Pullman’s ‘His Dark Materials’ and, of course, continuing beloved BBC dramas – our Supporting Artists are in demand and getting to be part of amazing, groundbreaking television.”

The casting will take place from 10am – 4pm.
Thursday 18th April 2019 at Cardiff Marriott Hotel (Dylan Thomas Suite), Mill Lane, Cardiff, CF10 1EZ.
