Murray Sayce joins to spearhead newly-created sustainability role

Ramboll Environ has appointed a UK head of sustainability, with Murray Sayce joining the company as Principal to fulfil the new role. This is the first senior appointment since Ramboll and ENVIRON joined forces in early 2015.

With two decades’ experience in environment, health and safety, social and ethical consulting, compliance and assurance, Sayce has worked across sectors including mining & metals, food & beverages, waste, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, forestry, paper and pulp, property and construction, and transport – in the UK and internationally. His expertise ranges from corporate sustainability strategy and reputational assurance to climate change and carbon management, environment, safety and social service development and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions verification.

Most recently he has been a Technical Director at a major international compliance organisation

as its group level corporate responsibility and sustainability specialist, offering technical, commercial and assurance services to Nestlé SA, GSK, WPP plc, AstraZeneca, Shell, DS Smith, British Gas and others.

At Ramboll Environ he will head the business’ UK sustainability services, bringing together the current team’s experience and technical expertise to offer high level advice and integrated solutions for major businesses, especially those in the FTSE 250 and mid-size organisations.

Murray Sayce, Principal at Ramboll Environ, said: “Businesses increasingly recognise that making sustainability an intrinsic part of their plans will bring financial advantage as well as operational improvements and reputational enhancement.

“The key, though, is to approach this in a fully-rounded way. From the right strategy, for the right reasons, to the range of issues that fall under the sustainability banner, an integrated approach that connects directly to the wider business, as well as the demands being placed upon it, is essential.

”Trust and traceability are especially important areas. Part of my role will be to show clients how this can be addressed through the range of advice and services that Ramboll Environ already offers, as well as how we can help tackle other challenges they may be facing in this arena.”

Andy Goddard, Managing Principal of Ramboll Environ’s Cardiff and Bath offices said: “This appointment is a great addition to our expanding teams in Cardiff, Bath, Bristol and Exeter. There is a palpable buzz in the region at the moment and with Murray’s experience and expertise, we see him playing an important role in helping our clients succeed in an economy where sustainability is a prerequisite to growth.”
