Tickets on Sale on Friday 1 May at 9am

LEGENDARY British songwriter Richard Thompson OBE is coming to St David’s Hall on Tuesday 15 September.

Thompson is renowned as being one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time, and tickets for his spectacular live show go on sale tomorrow (Friday 1 May) from 9am.

Having co-founded the groundbreaking group Fairport Convention as a teenager in the 60s, Thompson and his bandmates virtually invented British folk rock. A string of critically acclaimed albums followed including the classic Liege & Lief. Yet, by the age of 21 he made the bold move of leaving to pursue a solo career.

Since then he’s deservedly won Lifetime Achievement Awards for Songwriting on both sides of the Atlantic and inspired a huge array of artists such as Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, REM, Elvis Costello and David Byrne of Talking Heads.

Thompson’s massive body of work includes over 40 albums, many Grammy nominations, Ivor Novellos and a successful decade-long musical partnership with his ex-wife Linda. In 2013, he performed at the Americanarama Tour where he shared the stage with Bob Dylan, who covered Thompson’s classic song 1952 Vincent Black Lightning.

His 2015 tour is in support of his new sixteenth album entitled Still, which was produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and will be released in June.

Thompson’s genre-defying mastery of both the acoustic and electric guitar is mesmerising. Experience this star of the six-string live at St David’s Hall!

“The excellence is undeniable” Rolling Stone
