09/10/2015

LONDON, ENGLAND – (NYSE:SHAK) July XX, 2015 – A tale of two Shacks…Shake Shack® is thrilled to announce it will open two new Shacks late 2015/early 2016: a third London Shack on New Oxford Street, among several exciting redevelopment projects, and the first-ever Cardiff Shack in St. David’s Shopping Centre, one of Europe’s premiere shopping and leisure destinations.

Born in New York City, Shake Shack is a critically acclaimed, modern day “roadside” burger stand known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, griddled-crisp flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, crinkle cut fries, beer and wine, and more. A fun and lively community gathering place with widespread appeal, Shake Shack has earned a cult-like following around the world.

The New Oxford Street Shack is set to build on the success of its London predecessors, Covent Garden (2013) and Westfield Stratford City (2015), while deepening relationships with local purveyors and fans within the London community. The St. David’s Shopping Centre Shack, located in one of UK’s largest, multi-cultural cities, will be the first-ever UK Shack outside of London.

“London has been so welcoming to us, and we’ve been humbled by the passionate response from fans across the UK,” said Randy Garutti, Shake Shack CEO. “We’re incredibly excited to bring our third London Shack to New Oxford Street and our first Cardiff Shack to St. David’s Shopping Centre. Our teams continue to seek out and deepen ties with talented local producers and more guests, as we extend our roots in the UK.”

New Oxford Street—one of London’s busiest retail and business districts—is well positioned to undergo some of London’s most exciting community growth and development. Shake Shack will be located on the ground floor of 80 New Oxford Street, a short walk from the Tottenham Court Road underground station (which will feature Crossrail access by 2018) and just minutes from the surrounding neighbourhoods of Soho, Bloomsbury, Covent Garden and Holburn.

Cardiff is one of the UK’s most dynamic cities and home to a rapid-growing culinary scene. Shake Shack will be located on the first floor of St. David’s Shopping Centre—the leading community destination for shopping and leisure—minutes from the Millennium Stadium and centrally located between Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street rail stations.

In line with Shake Shack’s mission to Stand For Something Good®, both New Oxford Street and St. David’s Shopping Centre Shacks will encompass forward-thinking architecture that fans around the world have grown to love. The unique interior design will feature recyclable and sustainable materials including table tops made from reclaimed bowling alleys handcrafted in Brooklyn and wooden walls harvested from Wyoming snow fence. Like all Shacks, this location will feature energy-efficient kitchen equipment and lighting.

“This is an extremely exciting time for us at Shake Shack, particularly as we deepen our connection to the UK,” said Nigel Sherwood, Business Director of Shake Shack UK. “This winter we’re bringing two incredible new Shacks to two very different, but very fitting spots in the UK. We plan to ensure that not only is each Shack engrained in its community but also becomes a true gathering spot. As we grow, we will continue to look for outstanding opportunities in major cities.”
