Sixty quid must-have suit is on par with those three times the price – at an Asda near you

23/05/2024

It’s the workhorse of the menswear world, taking you from weddings to funerals, proms, to a day in the office or a date night.

But, with an average off the rack high-street suit setting you back an average of £150 and a bespoke tailored version costing a couple of thousand more, a good suit doesn’t come cheap.  Until now!

Thanks to  George at Asda you can now choose from a range of six versatile suits for less than the cost of your average weekly shop.

Better yet, despite the modest price tag, the collection, designed by some of Britain’s best and most experienced tailors, will offer a capsule collection of tailoring classics, in the same high performing fabrics you’d find in a high end, high street store but for a fraction of the price.

The core range is available online and in stores featuring  fully lined jackets, trousers and waistcoats in classic cuts. One slim fit suit in a navy check fabric will also be available online and in store, alongside a black tuxedo as sported by the king of Christmas, Michael Buble in the supermarket’s Christmas ad.

Perfect for the wedding season, three further slim fit styles, including linen-look neutral and light blue colourways and a grey check, are available exclusively online.

The expert team behind the collection, led by Austen Pickles, have designed ranges for some of the high-street’s biggest names as well as key pieces from Asda’s recently launched Studio Edit collection.

They believe that a well tailored suit shouldn’t have to break the bank.

“Everybody deserves to look a million dollars, but not everyone has thousands to spend on a suit that they may only wear a few times a year. A well tailored suit has an incredibly positive impact on how you look and feel and increases your confidence in all kinds of situations. George’s collection is about making it easier and more affordable than ever to get that high quality look, feel and fit without spending a small fortune.

We’ve worked closely with our friends at George to design a timeless range, with both classic and slim fits, in versatile colours and fabrics that will look just as good with a bow tie and a pocket square at a wedding as they will with a t-shirt and trainers.  And, it’s the attention to detail that makes this such a great value collection.”

Austen says:

“When it comes to buying a suit, details are very important from the printed or jacquard lining, the covered buttons and satin lapels on a dinner jacket to the melton that makes the collar sit correctly around your neck.

And fit is critical from subtle shaping of the jacket waist to tapering of the trouser leg, nipping the waistline of a waistcoat, all helps to create the perfect British Tailoring silhouette.

This is what really elevates your suit – and the George range has it all.”

Better yet, the range offers a great opportunity to build your capsule wardrobe, Austen explains.

“Every man should have three key suits in his wardrobe. A navy suit which will have you covered for everything from an important work meeting to a wedding, a grey suit which is another classic all rounder and a good dinner suit for black tie events. You want the option to wear the full suit formally with a tie or go smart casual, mixing individual pieces with jeans or a tee. Sticking to those kinds of classic colours will give you the option to mix and match so you’re sorted for every occasion.

“The best bit is, George’s £50-£60 price points mean you could get three suits for the same price that you’d pay for one on the high-street.”

The collection is available in sizes ranging from 36R – 50L in jackets and 30R – 44L in trousers. Trouser prices start from £20.
