St David’s, Cardiff, are continually showing their support to Pride Cymru by offering the charity prime space within its shopping centre.

Pride Cymru will utilise the space to promote and encourage people within the community to get involved as well as promote the Pride Cymru Big Weekend which will be held at the Civic Centre in Cardiff, August Bank Holiday 2017. The first date will be Sunday 18th June, when Pride Cymru will be in the centre holding a volunteer recruitment event from 11am to 5pm. If you want to know more about volunteering for the charity or want to sign up, come along and see the team who will be situated between River Island and Victoria’s Secret on the first floor.

St David’s also noted that during the Pride Weekend they will be actively showing their support throughout the weekend in the shopping centre with various decorations and events.

Steven Madeley, general manager for St David’s Cardiff commented: “We’re thrilled to be a supporter of Pride Cymru’s Big Weekend. It’s a celebration that has become an integral part of the culture in our city, and the vital work the organisation undertakes throughout the year to promote diversity in Wales is incredibly important.”

A generous donation of £1000 has also been by kindly donated by St David’s, which has been greatly received by the charity, as mentioned by Lu Thomas, Chair of Pride Cymru.

Lu further quoted “This year, as we celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of gay sex, it is heartening that we as a community are embraced and supported to be who we are, with the people we love, in the community we live.  I am delighted that St David’s are so supportive of Pride Cymru.  Their donation will help us achieve our aim of reaching 10,000 participants to take part in our Parade through Cardiff City Centre.”.
