Staff shortlisted for Royal College of Midwifery Award

Two staff members from Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB) have been shortlisted for an award by the Royal College of Midwifery (RCM).

Alison Jones, Midwife and RCM Health and Safety Representative and Suzanne Hardacre, Head of Midwifery and Lead Directorate Nurse have been shortlisted in the Caring for You category.

Since 2004, the RCM Annual Midwifery Awards have rewarded, celebrated and shared outstanding achievement in midwifery across the UK. They recognise the best new evidence-based practice projects and the best in team working.

The awards highlight outstanding individuals making a difference for women, families and babies. Nominees show a true reflection of excellence in midwifery and the awards are designed to:

  • Promote best practice and world-class midwifery standards
  • Showcase practice innovations and ground-breaking initiatives
  • Recognise individual and team excellence.

Dr Jenny Thomas, Clinical Board Director for Children and Women at Cardiff and Vale UHB said: “I’m delighted that Alison and Suzanne have made the shortlist for these prestigious awards.  It’s great to see their hard work and dedication to midwifery recognised on a national level.  I’d like to say “congratulations” and wish them all the best for the ceremony next year.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at The Brewery, London on Tuesday 6 March 2018.
