The transformation of the Brains-owned central Cardiff pub Kitty Flynn’s to a dedicated craft beer outlet is nearing completion following an eight week refurbishment that will see the doors open to the public for the first time on 15th May from 8pm.

The heritage of the site has been fully recognised with the business renamed the Cambrian Tap in honour of the Cambrian Hotel that occupied the historic corner of the Old Brewery in the 1800s. Extensive external work has been completed to expose and restore many of the original features of the building and return it to its original glory.

Inside, the site has been sympathetically refurbished and decorated as a celebration of craft beer. Features include an enormous “Whose Beer” wall, showcasing those who have inspired and contributed to the extensive range of beers from Brains Craft Brewery.

Guests are set to be treated to a large range of Brains Craft Brewery and guest rotational cask and keg beers with no less than eighteen draught products, including the specially brewed Cambrian Pale, a hoppy pale ale hopped with Mandarina Bavaria and Mosaic. An extensive range of bottled beers will also be available, with the draught product offer changing regularly.  A small range of speciality pork pies has been hand-picked to compliment the range of beers.

Paul Phillips, manager at the Cambrian Tap commented, “The historic location in the city centre on the former site of the Old Brewery made this the obvious location for Brains’ first craft beer bar. Brains has a unique heritage in Welsh brewing and the Cambrian Tap will showcase not only the great beer brewed by Brains Craft Brewery here in Cardiff, but also those of our favourite brewers from around the UK.”

“I am looking forward to welcoming Cardiff’s ever expanding community of craft beer lovers to the Cambrian Tap. The craft beer scene in Cardiff continues to go from strength to strength and I’m delighted that the Cambrian Tap will play an active part in that with the exciting range of limited edition craft beers we will carry”
