The Clink Restaurant Launches New Autumn Menu


With the change of season The Clink Restaurant Cardiff, the unique prison dining experience, is launching its new autumn menu. Making the most of the wonderful seasonal ingredients the new menu provides a wealth of delicious dishes for all palates.

The new lunch menu offers diners a delightful selection of dishes including vegetarian and vegan choices.

To start, diners will be able to choose from a mouth-watering selection including smoked trout rillette coated in a citrus crumb served with a trio of beetroot and radicchio salad, assiette of chicken with confit chicken terrine, smoked chicken and chicken and herb mousse or aubergine and tomato with maple-glazed squash puree, rocket salad and tomato oil.

The main courses offer a range of appetising dishes from pan-seared sea trout with seabass and plaice fillet, shellfish broth, spring onions and saffron aioli, or barrel of braised shin of beef with roast shallot, smoky potato rosti and a thyme jus to a forest mushroom parcel with wilted greens and tarragon broth.

As a finale, the selection of deserts is a sumptuous collection of treats. From rice pudding with pistachio praline and damson compote to chocolate and pear tart with caramelised cobnuts and a cocoa and lavender sorbet.

By lunching at a Clink Restaurant, diners are helping the charity to change a serving prisoner’s life. The skills and qualifications gained while training allow trainees the opportunity to obtain employment upon release and in turn, reduce reoffending. To make diners aware of the training the prisoners are undertaking, each dish on the menu includes details of the training element of the City and Guilds qualifications they are working towards and the skills involved in preparing that dish.

The new lunch menu is available between 12pm and 3pm Monday to Friday with the gourmet dinner menu available from Wednesday – Saturday evenings at 6.30pm, 7pm and 7.30pm.  The Clink Restaurant at HMP Cardiff also offers breakfast from 9am – 11am Monday to Saturday, afternoon tea from 1.30pm – 3pm Monday to Friday and Sunday Roast Lunch 12pm – 3pm.
