The first International Welsh Cabaret Festival arrives in Cardiff

The first International Welsh Cabaret Festival arrives in Cardiff this Friday (November 13) and it’s asking the audience to pick the best new performer!

The Cwtch Awards take place at the Sherman Theatre on Friday night at 7.30pm, with performers from across Europe competing to be crowned the best new face.

After watching the acts, the audience will be asked to place their vote, with the winners getting the chance to take to the stage at the Festival’s Gala Show on the Saturday night.

Those taking part have only been performing a short while, but the stage looks set for some serious talent.

  • Mariposa Bop is high-energy hooper, pole inverter, lyra looper, silks tumbler and burlesque performer
  • Local performer Bonita Boudoir started her burlesque career as a troupe member of Cardiff Cabaret club before performing her first solo.
  • Tawny Kay is a blonde bombshell with the killer curves who knows how to use them to killer effect
  • Coco Patchouli, the French Bonbon is going to take you to a fanciful classical universe!
  • Pinkie T’boo reached 40 and started Burlesque Lessons as part of her bucket list
  • Starting as a theatre mime, Pi the Mime has been exploring and developing cabaret in London, and dipping his toe in the pool of drag.
  • Coco Blue Ferrari’s act aims to show the mermaid for what she really is, a cunning predator.
  • Cece Sinclair is a passionate, high energy performer with a sassy bump and grind
  • Celeste de Moriae, is a Croatian act, based in Germany, with years of singing and dancing experience before taking up burlesque
  • Kheski Kober is a beauty queen clown and is known to enjoy more than a little bit of filth!
  • Tilly Mint is cheeky, mischievous and easily lead astray.
  • Tamora D’Amour, a London based alt-neo burlesque performer with a love of theatrics, latex and drum and base.

The headliner for the Friday night is the award winning international vaudevillian performer Lou Safire.

The festival takes place from Friday November 13 at 5pm and Saturday November 14 from 12 noon till late with the Gala Show starting at 7.45pm on Saturday at Sherman Theatre, Senghennydd Road, Cathays, Cardiff, CF24 4YE.

Tickets for the Cwtch Awards are £19, or included in the Festival Pass, which costs £60 and also includes the Gala Show on the Saturday night and two workshops over the Festival weekend.  This also includes a large market place and workshops.

The amazing fire and burlesque performer Aurora Galore, crowned Most Innovative’ Performer at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, takes influences from Haute Couture and avant garde fashion, turn-of-the-century Circus Freaks and a wide range of dance styles.

Aurora Galore was voted the 15th best Burlesque performer in the world last year and also tops the burlesque charts in the UK.

Firecracker of Burlesque Lady Francescca is coming to the Festival from Sweden, having won the title Queen Of Geneva Burlesque Festival 2015

Lady Wildflower has performed all over the world and was one of the first EVER burlesque artists to perform in China. She was recently voted in the Top 20 UK Burlesque performers.

Silent clown Kiki Lovechild has wowed international crowds with comedy, vaudeville and burlesque routines.Voodoo Queen of Burlesque Tuesday Laveau has wowed audiences on both sides of the pond with a style that is truly Transatlantic, badass and high-octane.

Let international Boylesque and Pole Performer Sir Midnight Blues tell you a story and take you into the depths of his bubble of imagery

Half Singer/Half Compere/Half Mathematician Kiki Deville has had audiences the length and breadth of the globe succumb to the exuberant glamour of the UK’s most high profile Burlesque Chanteuse and Hostess.

All the performers on the Saturday night Gala Show have agreed to be included in a charity calendar, raising money for Breast Cancer Care, the Festival’s chosen charity.
