Tŷ Llandaff Care Home celebrates ‘Excellent’ rating in all areas following Care Inspectorate Wales inspection

Pontcanna care home, Tŷ Llandaff, is celebrating success after receiving the highest possible ratings across all areas in its latest inspection by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). The home achieved an ‘Excellent’ rating across all four key areas: Well-being, Care and Support, Environment, and Leadership & Management.

 

The team received praise for the exceptional standards and warm, person-centred care being delivered, further strengthening its outstanding local reputation with residents, relatives, and healthcare partners.

 

Known for delivering the very best in person-centred residential, dementia, nursing, and respite care, Tŷ Llandaff has become a trusted and valued part of the local community. The leadership of the care home were praised by relatives and residents in the CWI inspection as highly efficient, approachable, and action-focused.

 

Tŷ Llandaff was also recently awarded the Gold Plus Healthy Care Home Snack Award, given out by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, recognising the home’s commitment to promoting healthy nutrition and wellbeing.

 

Kath O’Dwyer who has been the Home Manager since 2022, takes great pride and passion in leading the home to provide a warm and homely environment where residents are supported and enabled to lead a fulfilling life.

 

Reflecting on the home’s success Kath commented:

Feedback gathered during the inspection further reflected the home’s warm and inclusive ethos. One family member shared: “The staff always welcome you with smiling faces,” while another mentioned: “The home feels like a place of warmth, compassion, and professionalism.”

 

Summing up the exceptional care being delivered at the home, one resident commented: “Although I was initially reluctant to live in a residential home, I now find it lovely and would not live anywhere else.”

 

The inspection report commended Tŷ Llandaff’s commitment to providing exceptional care in a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment, ensuring residents can enjoy the highest possible quality of life.
