Up for the (Virtual) challenge? #Zero2Hero25

10/04/2020

Not to be deterred by the impact of COVID-19 on fundraising events, Ronald McDonald House Charities UK (RMHC UK) has launched the Zero2Hero25’ virtual challenge to encourage people to raise vital income. All funds raised will help to provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families with children in hospital.

Zero2Hero25’ challenges people to keep both their body and mind active while working from home – and raise some much-needed funds at the same time. RMHC UK are inviting people to spend 25 minutes a day on a chosen activity (some ideas below!) to fundraise £25 to provide one night of accommodation for families with a child in hospital.

There are lots of options of what you could do, but some of our favourite suggestions include:

  1. Reading – whether it be an old favourite novel, a new blog post online or a “how to”
  2. Meditation – increase awareness of yourself and your surroundings
  3. HIIT – if you are missing your gym classes, find an online alternative and stay active
  4. Gardening – spring has just sprung so now is the ideal time to plant pot-grown fruit trees and bushes, what will you grow?

Ronald McDonald House Cardiff is just one of the eleven Houses across the UK encouraging supporters to take part in this challenge. The House enables seriously ill children undergoing treatment in University Hospital of Wales, Children’s Hospital to have their families close by for comfort and support.

Of the challenge, Nicola Savage, Head of Fundraising at Ronald McDonald House Charities said:

“At such an extraordinary time, you may be feeling a bit cooped up! Despite it all, we are still keeping our Cardiff House open, offering our support to families who need us most. Due to the cancellation or postponement of many of our events, we’ve created Zero2Hero25 to help you to help yourself and to help us. We need your support more than ever and hope that you can join in with us!”
