YolanDa Brown, Reggae Love Songs

St David’s Hall
Wednesday 23 March
DOUBLE MOBO award-winning saxophonist YolanDa Brown is coming to St David’s Hall on Wednesday 23 March and she’s bringing a string of special guests with her!

Sharing the stage with YolanDa will be Lemar, Matt Cardle and Levi Roots!

YolanDa won the Best Jazz Act at the MOBOs in 2008 and 2009 and stormed to the top of the iTunes and Amazon jazz charts for her critically acclaimed debut album April Showers May Flowers in 2012. And now she’s set to bring some sunshine to Cardiff with a special set entitled Reggae Love Songs.

Get ready for an infectious journey of rhythms from the Caribbean peppered with supreme Jazz flavoured inflections and sensibilities. As well as performing across the world in her own right, YolanDa has already supported the likes of The Temptations, Errol Brown, Courtney Pine and Diana Krall on tour and collaborated with artists such as Mica Paris, Julian Marley, Soweto Kinch and Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. She was also recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Arts by the University of East London and invited to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Joining YolanDa is R&B artist and Fame Academy star Lemar, who has won two BRITs and three MOBOs, plus seven UK Top 10 singles and over two million album sales. Alongside Lemar will be Matt Cardle, who shot to fame in 2010 as the winner of the seventh series of The X Factor and for his subsequent Christmas No.1 When We Collide. Completing the sterling line-up of special guests is British-Jamaican musician, TV personality, celebrity chef and entrepreneur Levi Roots.
