Cardiff Marina’s new Sealift arrived last night, it is capable of lifting boats up to 20 metres in length and weighing up to 50 tonnes, making it the biggest boat lifting facility in the Bristol Channel. CANCER RESEARCH UK has tripled its investment in pancreatic cancer, one of the hardest cancers to treat, since launching its research strategy in 2014 – according to new figures published. The charity increased spending on pancreatic cancer research – including improving diagnosis and treatment – to £18million in the 2015/16 financial year, tripling the £6million investment in 2013/14. A book festival backed by award-winning writers and leading figures in Welsh public life has launched a crowdfunding campaign to bring a three-day festival aimed at promoting reading, writing and debate to the Welsh capital for the first time this autumn (28-30th October 2016). A new GoFundMe campaign for a cat sanctuary that was broken into and had its cats stolen has raised £12,500 in just one day The GoFundMe page was set up by Owen Williams from Ty Nant Cat Sanctuary, based in Cymmer, Port Talbot, after the sanctuary was broken into on Saturday evening (30 July), leaving many of its cats missing and stolen.
