A major charity match-funding initiative by the National Emergencies Trust and Crowdfunder UK has announced it will remain open over the coming weeks to enable Welsh charities and groups to cope with seasonal increases in demand. The Local Action Fund launched on 22 September to offer funding to community and voluntary organisations to help them counter the financial impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Ekologi started life as a small riverside workshop in South Wales in 2011, building rustic furniture from old reclaimed pallets. A book festival backed by award-winning writers and leading figures in Welsh public life has launched a crowdfunding campaign to bring a three-day festival aimed at promoting reading, writing and debate to the Welsh capital for the first time this autumn (28-30th October 2016).
