Thursday daytime online singing sessions from the Goldies Cymru Charity are proving to be a big hit. Libraries across South Wales are working with the charity Goldies Cymru to brighten the lives of older people through regular daytime boisterous FUN singalong sessions. Goldies Cymru started in Cardiff six years ago with just six daytime fun Sing&Smile sessions. On Tuesday November 6 – five days before the nation commemorates the end of World War One – a very special event takes place at The Princess Royal Theatre in Port Talbot. Hundreds of older people from across South Wales who attend the Goldies Cymru Sing & Smile fun daytime sessions plus primary school children from local schools will take part in a day which will be based on the commemoration of WW1.   Welsh singing sensation, Katherine Jenkins, crowns Armistice Cantata the National Lottery’s Best Education Project.    Force’s Sweetheart’ and Welsh classical singer, Katherine Jenkins, presented the National Lottery Award 2018 to the Armistice Cantata project in Cardiff.  The project is an intergenerational collaboration between pensioners from Goldies Cymru and the children at Thornhill Primary School. With its growing number of daytime fun sing-along sessions, the Goldies Cymru Charity is taking off across South and West Wales. The 2017 Epic Awards winners’ reception took place at the Sage Gateshead on Sunday evening (19 March) as part of BBC Radio 3’s Free Thinking Festival.
